Firm Overview

The law firm of The Payne Law Group of Payne, Malechek, Scherr, Campbell & Moore, P.C. was originally founded in 1949 by John M. Lawrence, III, under the name Cocke and Lawrence. Since that time, the Firm has been continuously engaged in the business of providing legal advice and representation to the residents of the Brazos Valley. The Firm is now one of the largest law firms in Brazos County and has a law practice that extends beyond the Brazos Valley and into state and federal courts throughout the State of Texas. The Firm’s comprehensive practice covers wide range of legal matters, from local litigation to complex real estate transactions. By virtue of its size, the Firm has maintained a major presence in most major business, financial and governmental transactions throughout the Brazos Valley. Due to its diversity and experience in many practice areas, the Firm is able to meet the legal needs of virtually every potential client. The Firm’s client base reflects this fact in that it represents businesses of all sizes and individuals.

The Firm currently has seven attorneys who provide a wide range of legal services, including the representation of financial institutions, business litigation, real estate, estate planning, probate and administration of estates, guardianship, family law, corporate law, partnership law, labor and employment litigation, corporate litigation, and personal injury litigation. The Firm has been involved in numerous multi-million dollar files, both from the defense and plaintiff perspectives. Further, the Firm has been involved in numerous multi-million dollar real estate and financial transactions throughout the United States.
